Most of all, no family.

I was upset.

Actually, I'm still a little upset.

The thought keep replaying itself in my head.

And of course, listening to emo songs doesn't help any.

When I found out about it, I was immediately reminded of those times.

Haa, I went to look at all my previous blog posts which can only subtly mention him.

How we can barely talk face to face because of the shadowy relationship, how he always thank me for my affections (how many guys do that eh??) and how.. hmm, nothing much actually.

It's each other's presence that we enjoyed the most.

Frankly, I'm still unsatisfied and frustrated.

Just that few days apart. If only we say something earlier, would things be different?

But let's imagine that things turned out like that.

I still doubt we'd last this long. Maybe we will have a longer time but never more.

Therefore, there's really no point in being unhappy about it now. Especially since it has been this long.

So, Sakyou, stop bickering about this already. Those were happy days and I'm sure I didn't regret it. It has become something so dusty that in the future it will be buried among the many more happy memories to come.

It has been a few days since I returned to Cardiff. I have been locking myself in the room for a few days now, only going out to get groceries.

Goodness, I'm lacking social contact.

I mean, REAL social contact.

Well, I did manage to have lunch with seniors, which also really made my day.

CNY is looming over and just a few hours ago, I was chatting with my relatives on Skype on baking! It's somehow a tradition to have cookies and sweets around on the most celebrated festive season of our family. We discussed how to make pineapple rolls!!

It does seem a lot of work but I think I'll manage :p

Or I can opt to bake cake. Heee!

Londinium is another ancient name of London, though indirectly.

To be precise, it is the City of London, an inner part of London itself.

Anyway.

LONDON da! What dream it is to be able to set foot on the land of.. dust. AHAHA.

But seriously, UK's air is just dusty.

ANYWAY!!

I boarded the 0900 bus to London from Cardiff, which all the way I was packed with total excitement as I was going to meet friends that I miss having around!

We arrived at the main coach station, Victoria and had a brief reunion before moving to check in at Angel Islington.

But before that, we headed to King's Cross Station where Platform 9 ¾ is!

I WASN'T ACCEPTED!!!

Well, I guess that's because I haven't got my offer letter yet. I'm quoting my friend here: HOGWARTS! 10 YEARS LATE AND I'M STILL WAITING!

After a little snack, we began exploring!

As most of you might know, the sun sets unexpectedly early in the UK now. Even though it's only 1600, it's already dark in town.

Growing Up

Before I dwell on my trip to Albion, I will talk about growing up.

Why? Because the year 2011 is coming to an end!

I'm turning 21 next year! Goodnessssssss~!

And I'm waiting for three more cameras worth of pictures. Hahaa.

I was talking to Siong and my temporary flatmates yesterday, about how we will be one year older in the matter of days now.

Sure, it's not our birthday yet, but it leaves a mark somehow.

When we were young, we always wanted to be labelled older than we are. Whenever we are asked of our age, we say "I'm six years old and a half," even though that half does not actually make any difference.

But now, as long as it is not our birthday yet, we begged not to add one year to our age.

And when someone remarks that we look younger than our age, we feel as if we're in the heavens.

I never thought this will come across my mind, but I find now that growing up is scary.

Up until now, everything is plan-able. But after graduation, things are different. There are so many variables that are uncontrollable. It's no longer that easy to pinpoint a direction in life that you want.

I also discussed about my recent favouritism towards plushies. Also, my Disney fever is increasing more than ever. I also mentioned about the importance of Peter Pan to me now in the previous post, how he is a symbol of worship to me now.

Siong herself now has a pair of matching penguin pyjamas with a pair of penguin socks.

She remarked that this is our way of holding onto our childhood.

I treasure every single moment I had when I was young. It is truly valuable. Looking back, all that I ever reminisce about and ever want are things like these, Disney. As my young self's life revolved mostly about Disney, I think it's natural that I lean towards it. Also, I never have plushies when I was young. So my theory is that I'm trying to relive my childhood in a way that I would have; by having plushies.

I have more responsibilities, having to make more decisions.

Yes, the future is exciting. I want to see how mine will turn out like too. And I want to see what will become of everyone.

I also imagined myself, meeting up with friends every now and then to joke about our stupid things together or to introduce our children to each other.

Only last night I saw Thomas's caption on one of our group photo in London.

We are not alone.. We have a bunch of friends travelling together.. A memory that will never be forgotten.. This is the right picture to show to all of your children in the future.. Hahaa.. "This is Uncle Thomas"

It's really a tie. On one hand, I really looked forward to the day where I show this picture to my children and tell them I had fun in London with these people. But on the other, I don't want to face whatever responsibilities I will have then. And losing my right to be childish.

Things like that.

But we all know time will not turn back. It will only go forward, and so must we. I know it is pointless dwelling so much on what that has became the past, but sometimes it reminds you of who you really are. And this is one thing I will never let go.

I remember and understand now why my aunt told me the clearest memory she has is when she was a young girl. She couldn't remember much about her college or working life compared to that. We are not the only one. And because of this, I will work hard to ensure my children never regret their childhood, ever.

I know that deep down, secretly, Wendy still loves Peter.

DISNEYLAND PARIS ♥

DISNEYLAND!

Never have I thought that I will get to visit Disneyland.

From a very young age, I am not used to travelling for holiday. So Disneyland became something that only exists in dreams.

But last month, when I was given the opportunity, I jumped on it, though not without inches of doubts and surrealism.

I guess I just couldn't imagine it happen, that's all.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway! Disneyland it is that I went!

We got stalled in the bus for a good 45 minutes due to some problems with the tickets whatsoever. Agitated, everyone was going nuts. Once I got down the bus, I literally ran to the gates with a friend, anxious to see the land of dreams.

Since this is Disneyland Paris, most of the writings are in French. Which is odd, because isn't Disneyland suppose to be universal? I can't read so many things!

A warning here.

There's Disneyland Park and Disneyland Studio. For a one day pass, you could only choose to enter either one. So think carefully. Unless you purchase both parks in which case you will need more than two days to complete the entire visit. Where all the rides and fun things are, it's the Park.

Once I step into the Park, I was soooooo overwhelmed. I felt super surreal and could barely walk forwards because it is just so difficult to imagine. Me, being a super huge Disney fan, in the land itself! If I was being more sentimental that day, I might actually cry.

At the sight of Goofy, I went crazy! Hahaa. But you have to line up to take pictures with him. So, meh~

Everything is in French, which is really annoying. You can't read, you don't understand the background audio narration. Most staff speaks French first. Then when you gave them a puzzled look, only will they speak in English.

What is also annoying is it's a Sunday, and it's Thanksgiving. Disneyland is flooded with French people instead of tourists. *Sigh* I didn't manage to go on any rides, lest for the Haunted Mansion.

No, I didn't ride this. Sad, I know. But we only have about 6 hours to explore the whole place and spending one of them to line up for a ride is really not an option at all :(

I would expect the characters, that is, the princesses to be in their dresses, walking around, taking pictures with everyone. I was prepared to fight my way through the crowds for a picture with them. I was mentally ready to wait for my turn and all.

But no. No such thing!

The weather is so much cooler here in Paris so wearing a costume around shouldn't be a problem. So why??

We left about ten minutes to 1900. It's really too early to leave but we have to get back to the UK. So bye bye Disneyland.

I have so much fun. All around, wherever you walk, you hear music. And since it's near Christmas, everywhere is decorated with lights other Christmas ornaments.

The trip is really valuable to me. I know I just have to bring my children there one day.

But this time, it will be the one in the States.

So we left Paris and began the long journey back.

As we reach Calais, we were required to leave the bus and walk through the immigration department. UK Border Agency.

For some reasons, only Racene and I got picked to fill in this form because we don't hold a UK passport. The other Malaysian friends were able to pass through without any trouble. So we filled in the forms while everyone else got through. The president of the law society noticed the two of us and I remember hearing him say "There's two more".

While the rest get on the bus, we walked to the counters where the officers starts questioning us. Halfway, I look out the window and to my horror, saw that both buses left.

THEY LEFT!!!

I was pointing outside, with my mouth hanging open after remarking "They left" at which Racene went, "WHAT??"

Another officer who is not attending anyone realised what happened. "Oh that's your bus?? I'll go after them," and he ran off to chase the bus.

The officers in front of us are STILL questioning us; what does your dad do, why are you here, are you in the same university..

SERIOUSLY??

We come in a group, what do you expect? Goodnessssssss!

So after we got through, the both of us ran all the way to where both buses finally stopped. The officer who chased after it was telling us how he literally pulled the bus behind and all. Disregarding what he did to stop the bus, he did in fact manage to halt them and I am FOREVER THANKFUL to him. We got on the bus, in the end, to everyone's amusement. In fact, everyone who noticed the two empty seats on the bus was wondering why are they leaving without the two missing persons. Apparently it wasn't until the vice-president pointed it out, "James, there's two person missing" to which he actually replied "I know".

What the hell???

Anyway, that's the only downpart of the whole trip.

I was almost left behind. In France.

If so, I don't even know where to go; it's not like Calais has much civilisation, you know!

I swear I will cry. In fact, I almost did. Coupled with the tiredness and all.

We reached Cardiff around 0600.

Throughout the week, I was sooooooooo tired!! Was experiencing severe jet lag like never before. I remember falling asleep at 1000 on the same day after I unpacked and all, waking up at 1300 to walk to Freddy's for lunch. I could have fall asleep walking itself. It is very bad. The long travelling hours have messed my biological clock all over.

On top of all that, I have to rush four assignments, some tutorials and some essays.

This is somewhat contributed by the fact that I didn't manage to get some of it done before I leave as I am already spending a weekend for this trip.

It took me a whole week to recover from the fatigue.

Now for the expenses.

I spent £119 for travelling and accommodation.

Then for food, I spent about a total of €40, including whatever snacks I had on the ferry.

Day pass to move around Paris costed me €9.

Souvenirs, I spent about €70. Hahaa.

That's about it.

I got a souvenir for myself!

But before I show you what it is, I must first show you this:

So I brought the useful part to Paris.

It got worse.

The teeth starts breaking off.

So I got myself this!! Make sense?? Hahaha!

I'm not even done about Disney and here I am, attempting to write about London.

I think I will only do a brief one on London.

But before that, I want to talk a little about the Christmas party we had in Liverpool.

On the 23rd, we left London and hopped on a 5 hours bus ride to Liverpool which towards the last hour all of us got cranky and noisy; basically, high due of lack of sleep and food.

Things people do when they're deprived of necessities, ya' know?

Aaaaanyway, on the 25th, we got up around noon, laze around and chatted, then went on to prepare the food for later that day.

We started at about 1500 and is glad that we got everything done ON TIME! :D

Including the turkey!

*Ehem* So I used a friend's recipe for the turkey, and it's a HUGE SUCCESS!! Everyone helped too! I'm so happy! <3 <3

AAAAAANYWAY!

This is not the main point.

After food, we had a few hours of games which involved punishment of either drinking the disgusting vodka or be drawn by a lipstick.

Everything was fun!

Until someone got an upset stomach.

Other than me expressing so much thanks to those who helped to clean up the mess, for the rest of the days, all we ever talk about is the mess, instead of the hours of fun we had.

What I'm trying to get at is:

#1 My theory on all fun ends with ultimate despair (though this is in a different form)

#2 Dramas triumph over joys

Even myself. All I can recall at the spur moment if someone asked me how was my Christmas is the entire scene of someone puking in the living room and how the smell can linger for the whole of next day.

I wonder why. Because I had so much fun as well, you see. So I couldn't really grasp why is that short-lived moment can overtake all the happiness I felt.

You could argue because the impact is greater. But don't having fun has a significant impact as well?

Does this mean that negative > positive?

When I figure this out, I shall dwell on this matter again.

For now, this is how I spent my Christmas.

I hate how everyone only began to see his talents so late, how he's only in the lime light after being in the industry this far.

I just finished Life and Times of a Sentinel.
Two BRILLIANT actors. Yet nothing.

I've known all along that Steven Ma is an extraordinary actor.
When I saw Kenneth Ma in this drama, he presented me with a whole new level of acting.

And Steven Ma can sing very very very very very very very well!!!

Before anything else, I must say that blogger has been acting up so I couldn't do much to my posts other than type.

Back to business.

I have an acquaintance that asked me to help him one day. On Facebook.

He asked me to help him share the MSSCF's Festival of Diversity's event on my news feed.

Side note: I joined the musical after all, being one of the kompang players. But note that I join for my love for kompang.

At that point in time, I could have given him three answers:

#1 "OK! I'll help you" and actually do it.
#2 "OK!" Then don't do it.
#3 "No."

To test how much you know me, choose one from the above.

I chose option #3.

Putting aside the reason why I refuse to, I would like to know which answer did he expect. Just because one knows one another, it is a passport to take each other for granted?

More interestingly, would he rather hear me say YES and discovered later that I did not do it, or say NO right there and then to his face?

I said this before, that it is easier for me to say NO more than YES, to which of course, my friends such as PUA SENG YIK ended up making fun of me.
If you're me, what would your answer be?
And if you're someone asking for help, which answer would you like to hear? The honest one or the other?

Now, my reason for saying NO is that I simply don't feel like it. Justified? Yes.
Aside from that, I'll be honest and say I am not looking forward to it at all. I'm just going along with everyone. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about it. And the fact that the kompangs are torn and not taken care of properly further ticks me off.

There's also something I want to point out on the 'take-for-granted' matter. This year, they booked this really large theater in the city centre that can house 1000+ of audience. The MSSCF then asked a favour of us: if any of us has space for the people from out station to stay.

Personally, I think it is EXTREMELY STRANGE to keep someone you do not know with you, even if it's only for a night. I understand the whole Malaysian Hospitality concept they're trying to carry out but this is just impossible, for me.

Just because we are all Malaysians, we are taken for granted? To be EXPECTED to provide shelter?

I cannot stress this enough: I do not see people by what race they are, what country they come from. I see them for who they are. So, even if you're Malaysian but as long as you act like shit, please go away.

As far as I'm concerned, the MSSCF has done nothing worthy of my noble presence at all, actually. Therefore, I do not intend to lend a hand to them on this matter. Further, as I mentioned, I will not take in someone I do not know. I do, however, acknowledge that there are still nice people around. I do enjoy their presence and am happy to know them though I may not show it.

After this ends, I will cut all ties with them.

Paris

Now, let's get started!!

Firstly, I will try not to complain about anything because after all, I had fun. But there is one thing that I have to point out so watch out for it.

Second, I will also try not to repeat the captions and pictures from my Facebook album. So expect some new pictures because I just stole some from my friends XP

Third, I will make a separate post on Disney. Point two applies here too.

I left the UK on Friday morning and endure four hours of that before we reach Dover, which is the port. We got on the ferry and that journey took one hour and a half until we reach Calais, France. I think Calais is an industrial town as it has lots of factories around. We basically just pass by Calais so I can only tell as much.

On the ferry. I got so sick that I need to get on to the deck.

Feeling much better in the sea breeze. Though the wind is cold too.

From Calais, it took us another four hours before we hit Paris.

Basically it's like this.

I am not sure about the exact route so don't rely on this too much.

We checked in at about 2200 and rushed out to get a proper meal. We stayed at this youth hostel near the Mairie de Clichy Metro (train) station. Apparently the restaurants closes at 2130 so we were unable to get into any nice place for dinner. We stumbled upon this kebab store and since it's still operating and we're too tired to search for more, we went for it.

Delicious!! Mine is on the bottom and I FINISHED it! Meal costed €7.

We were supposed to have the Bar Crawl that night itself but apparently since it has gotten quite late, they changed it to the next day. We decided to sell our tickets to the others because we don't want to be hung over for Disneyland. NO WAY. While the rest still goes out for drinks, we turn in as early as possible to get a good start the next day.

Breakfast at 0930.

Next, we get into business: FINDING OUR WAY AROUND. We found a useful brochure in the hostel and planned out our journey via the Metro, which is convenient as it hits all the tourist spots. We got to the train station and purchased a day pass which cost me €9.60 to travel within the highlighted places. Oh, note that France uses the Euro € so prior I had to go change some cash. Anyway!

With a good map and a day pass, it can get you anywhere!

Stop #1: Sacré-Cœur Basilica at Montmarte.

Supposedly the highest point of Paris with a basilica on top. We are allowed to enter the basilica and oh my, the pipe organ is the MOST MAGNIFICENT THING I'VE SEEN! It's located on top of the entrance, overlooking the mass and the Christ. The pipes were of silvery gleam with hints of age on them. If I hear it being played, I'll die of serenity.

Moulin Rogue is apparently nearby where we were but we decided to skip it. I don't know why. Hahaa. We also encountered some of our firsts con artists where one managed to con €40 from my friend just for some stupid string and another pushed my friends for refusing to donate.

Wow.

No matter how civilized a place may be, there will always be people like them. I got harassed a few times too, nudging you and shoving the pen in your face so that you donate or whatever. The key point to avoid these is DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT. Once you do, BAM! Here they come and you'll have a hard time shaking them off.

Stop #2: Arc de Triomphe

Before we go on any further, I'm going to make a note here that all the places I went are basically those we see on TV, ya' know? Just that, instead of seeing it through a screen, I'm looking at it huge and real in front of me. Now that I've experienced it with my NAKED EYE! I can tell you the TV did not lie. These places ARE amazing.

Anyway! This. I remember this most when I watch Top Gear. Yes, yes, I know. I don't know why it was built, so look it up if you feel like. The arc overlooks the Rue de Rivoli, which is the spine to the Champs Elysees.

Stop #3: Avenue des Champs Elysees.

I have the most impression on this place because I first read about it in the novel The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. The Count has a house addressed 30, Champs Elysees and at the time the story takes place (during the age of Napoleon Bonaparte), the place was one where nobles and the wealthy stayed. Living up to its history, the modern day Champs Elysees is still one where the word luxury floats. The street houses many designer brands and is flocked with tourists and locals, buying goods.

Along the way, we encounter Laduree. I'm told this place has the best macaroons in the world. Since I'm not a fan of macaroons, I waited outside as my friends QUEUE UP to buy them.

Stop #4: Winter Market

This place is along the Rue de Rivoli too. Just after all the designer brand stores. I love places like these! We have one in Cardiff too but of course, not as much of a big deal as this!

Christmas is near, folks!

Which reminds me, I expected Paris to be warmer than Cardiff but boy I am so wrong. With the same amount of layers, it's definitely colder in Paris and somehow, the air is dryer than it is in Cardiff.

Stop #5: Tuileries Garden

I know I said I will not repeat things but here I just must!

The Tuileries Garden. I first heard of it when I was studying the novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux six years ago in English Literature. It was supposedly the meeting place of Christine Daae, the young singer from Norway and the young Vicomte, Raoul de Chagny. I am STILL wondering at which point in the garden did they decided to meet up. Anyway, this used to be one of the place where the nobles and royals come to waste their time when they have nothing better to do.

Stop #6: The Louvre

I must say I feel regrettable that I do not have the time to visit the Louvre. If I do, I will not be able to go to other places because apparently you will need a minimum of 6 hours; ONE DAY if you want to do it properly. Such a pity. But I think I will come back someday, so I do not mind. I THINK.

The queue outside the Louvre is .. LONG. I would tell myself to come when it's not the holiday season but again, last weekend wasn't exactly the holiday season. So this goes to show that disregarding when you come, you'll be expecting the same amount of people.

Which reminds me, there are a lot of Japanese tourists here. 80% of the orientals I came across are Japanese. I heard that the Japanese likes France and vice versa. I do not know why.

Stop #6 ½: Palace of Justice

Please pardon me. I'm a law student, so I can't help but. Heeeee :D

Stop #7: Notre Dame de Paris

In English, it is known as Our Lady of Paris. Lady, if you are curious, refers to Mary who gave birth to Jesus. A Roman Catholic Cathedral. I just looked up Wikipedia and it says the cathedral has a Gothic architecture. Hmm *raiseeyebrow*

If I mention Notre Dame, what is the first thing that crosses your mind?

EXACTLY!!

Stop #8: The Eiffel Towaaaa~!

OK, I'll do it properly.

The Eiffel Tower!!!

I know not why it was built but I remember baby Siong told me something about the Americans wanted to build something more awesome than the Eiffel Tower because it surpassed the Washington Monument and ended up with the Ferris Wheel during the Chicago World's Fair 1893.

ANYWAY. It really just looks.. metal-ish. Not that tall too. Hahaa. I think it's because I've seen taller buildings XP

But when night falls, the lights made a HUGE LOAD of DIFFERENCE!

It's like MAGIC!

I think I pretty much highlighted all the places I went. Was dead tired from walking by the time we found a restaurant with less people so we don't have to queue. SERIOUSLY!

What is it about staying in a hostel that annoys me the most?

I knew it would be the not-soundproof walls.

The second thing is the kitchen. But this has been sorted out so it's fine.

Now.

Right next to my room is another Malaysian in room No. 4 (who happens to be my classmate back in Malaysia but I couldn't recall or remember seeing her; class is HUGE :P) and on the other side is a British in room No. 2. I have no problems with my British flatmate. In fact, I'm constantly worried if I'm bothering her with my music, singing and movie. And anime.

It's the other one. Because she came here with her friends and they happen to be in the same building, the chattering never stops. Coupled with the fact that they talk REALLY loud, I am always depressed during late nights. I remember on one of my first nights here, she was skype-ing her mother so loud that I can even here what her mother is saying. So yes, I woke up at 0600 listening to her telling her mother how much does the bedsheet and vegetables costs; in £ and RM.

After a while, I informed her subtly:

Me: Do you talk to your friends every night?
She: Oh, very loud ah?
Me: Yea.. *trailsoffsheepishly*
She: Oh sorry sorry

The world is a happy place again.

Until of course, it started again. Loud and late into the nights. A few nights when I myself was skype-ing with my Mother, she asked me why am I not in bed yet bla bla bla. Fact is I can't sleep with all those noise. They can do that few nights in a row and I am particularly annoyed when it comes to Thursday nights because I have IP at 0900 the next day. It was SO difficult for me in the first two weeks. When classes started, it was a NIGHTMARE!

Last weekend, they brought friends over from Liverpool and Aberystywth. OMG. At 0500, I'm still awake. And can you believe it when I was woken up at 1300 by their chattering?? I was THIS pissed that morning (afternoon). Then that night, it was one of the friend's birthday. They sang the birthday song more than three times (according to my other flatmate who lives in No.8, it's only three times. I don't know, I lost count) and started banging and thumping things. Remember I am right beside her room.

Imagine. Just imagine.

I was in the middle of my Sakura movie and suddenly this really LOUD "BANG!!" puts my heart to a stop.

FINAL STRAW.

I paused my movie, opened my door and stepped out. To my surprise, flatmate No. 8 is outside their door, leaning against the wall and looking at me. To my FURTHER surprise, her answer to my question of "What are you doing here?" is "I'm worried about them, they have been drinking."

I was speechless. Here they are, being noisy and waking the whole corridor of people and yet flatmate No. 8 is out there by their door, worrying about their safety. I feel SOOOOOO bad for flatmate No. 8. So after I knocked on their door and one of the dudes came out to apologise, I invited flatmate No. 8 into my room rather than her just standing at the corridor. Poor thing.

For the next hour, we just go in and out of my room as the party-ers go in and out of the toilet to puke. I slept at almost 0400 that day. Few nights of minimal sleep makes me tired everyday. It's so bad!

After the drink drank drunk ruckus however, nights has been peaceful. But I guess it's only a matter of time before it all starts again? The floor below mine has gotten into an argument because of noise too. One of them now wants to move out immediately. That's how bad it is. Sometimes I don't know whether to talk, or you can call it complain, to flatmate No. 4 about this because on one hand, you don't want to mess up the relationship and on the other, your own health is at stake.

Yes, health.

But that's besides the point. You have to live with them for the rest of the term and it's not exactly something nice to do. But to be honest, I don't mind not talking to her for the rest of term :P BUT AGAIN! It's not nice. Just because I can, it doesn't mean I should.

It's well understood that these are all compromises. And it's also something we all expected the moment we decide to live in the halls of residences. If you don't want to comply with the rules, don't live here. It's that simple.

So, kids! What have we learn today??

I don't trust gweilou brands because I can't help feeling how they are not made for Asian skin and mind you, I have very sensitive skin.

Everyone thought my skin condition would improve once I'm here but NO. It doesn't turn out like that. It seems that now my skin is too dry thanks to the chilly weather of cold wind and has since overworked hence I still have pimples.

So Mom suggested cucumbers and I jumped on the idea because:

# Mom was a dermatologist.

# Cucumbers are 100% natural. The worse they can do is not work, not harm my skin any further.

Ha! Behold!

Nottingham

I visited University of Nottingham in conjunction with the very anticipated Malaysian event of the year; Nottingham Games 2011.

I joined the MSSCF to go, departing at 0330. I didn't sleep before and thought I could do it in the bus. Who knows the seats are so uncomfortable =.=

We reached Nottingham at about 0730, where we saw buses and buses parked. The university itself is very campus-based, as opposed to mine which has a city campus. There's no life on university grounds; as in, shops, bars etc. They only have halls of residences, schools, tar roads, greens and a 1.97km circumference lake. Anything more than that, you will need to go to town, which is unreachable via your legs. You have to take the bus.

I didn't get to go to town because I don't really have much time. I watched the games and supported the Cardiff red dragons! Most games run simultaneously, so I only get to watch badminton and basketball because from where I am, I get a very good view of both!

Later in the evening, it was nearing the finals for most games. After witnessing Vincent's nice victory, I went to cheer for basketball. Cardiff lost and placed fourth.

I'm telling you, I never thought I'd like to watch basketball. It is SOOO IDAMNGOOD!

Mom says it's because it's LIVE, so naturally it's more intense. Initially I don't know anything about basketball apart from the you-have-to-throw-the-orange-ball-into-the-hoop. I watched enough matches and had guidance from JooLian to now understand the mechanism! I cheered like mad; I really screamed. Hahaa. Now my throat feels funny XP

Yes, I met JooLian! Like, finally! LOL.

I have to say though, the final isn't as nice to watch as the semis. I expect to see a lot of showdown in the finals but it didn't turn out like that. But, it is still so nice to watch!!

Overall champion is none other than the host, University of Nottingham themselves. Basketball wise they placed third and as for badminton, I only know they got thrashed very early and was out of the competition before we know it. Hahaa.

Lonely In Gorgeous

I was pretty.

Was. Yesterday.

I attended a dinner with the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia. I bought new shoes for that (half)purpose. First we waited for the Minister to tour the stadium, then we waited through speeches- though this part is interesting because the current issue back home is the switching from English to Malay as medium of teaching in science and mathematics is THE topic now, so students asked questions and what not- then finally, food!

I may sound like a leech here because I looked forward to food so much but you can't blame me! Dinner is only served at about 2000! Anyway, my main purpose of attending in the first place is to meet new people. I thought it'll be great to know more people around.

Turns out, I did. I did meet some nice people around. There are also those who only stick to themselves. Oh well, all kinds of them. To be honest, I didn't really have fun. Was kinda tensed up the whole day throughout. Plus, the fact that I had a sad, SAD dream the previous night- me going into jail. JAIL!- does not help.

When I got back I returned being depressed and felt like going out again. But I have tutorial this morning so I can't do that. I can't do it today either because I have class tomorrow at 0900. Tomorrow may sound good but I'm leaving Cardiff at 3.30am on Saturday, heading to Nottingham for the Inter-Uni Malaysian Games, which is apparently a BIG deal. I will go see how BIG it is.

Again, my main purpose of going to the games is not to support Cardiff University- but I will, no worries- it's to see my friends! From other universities! How I miss them. And to see my two-fold cousin! And to inspect Nottingham for Akira who is coming next year. It sounds like I have a lot to do.

Had my first pub quiz! It was fun! Could have won but we ended up second. People would say 'it's not about winning, it's about the game'. Actually I disagree; it's about WINNING AND THE GAME! Heh. Pride is SO going to kill me one day.

I shall go to bed now and hibernate.

So That I Can Blame You

It's going to be a little psychological, philosophical theory talk *wink*

One says we should not judge a book by its cover.

True to that. But not with people-watching. It tells so many things; from the person's expressions, the way they talk, their expression, how they move and even walk can define a person.

Also, I remember that from one day, while sitting in the Economics class, our lecturer was going droning on and on about women and shoes. At one point he said, "When they bought the shoes, they'll come and ask you if it looks nice. They want assurance that they made the right choice."

I can never forget this. Sometimes, some people just want to seek approval.

From who, you ask? It can be anyone.

Let's take myself for example. I can just pass the exam, like, graze through it. But I myself will never approve of it, so I don't do it. I can not attend classes, but again, I don't approve to that, hence I will not do it.

Things are simple when it's just yourself, because YOU know what YOU want. But what if it is to seek approval from someone else?

How far do you have to sacrifice yourself to meet that achievement? Moreover, is this even necessary in the first place?

Easy examples are parents. It's a wonder how many kids nowadays are doing what the parents want, not what they intended. But it's even more of a wonder how many kids are struggling to meet their parents' expectations in whatever they're set to do. Sad, isn't it?

But sometimes, people seek approval only to want to blame it all on them later. When we go shopping, I always ask my sister which one she prefers. I know that if people ever say anything about it, I can just say "My sister chose it, not me. I'm just the one paying." Rest assured I also credit her if I get good remarks. Hahaa.

Anyway, these are trivial matters.

Today, I went to a dinner for the purposes of meeting new people. Prior to that, I have asked some friends to come along if they feel like it. Some said they'll think about it, some turned it down straightaway. But what actually threw me in a state of speechlessness is this one particular friend, who was obviously interested in going, but cannot make the decision himself. He asked me if I'm alright with going alone to that dinner, if I needed someone to come with me.

This theory in my mind never surfaces this much! It felt like jackpot when he uttered those words. I remember reading a manga just few days before that puts this theory in practice; how a guy didn't want to be the first to commit so that he can blame it on his partner for whatever that happens next.

It is evident that he wants me to say "Yes", then if the dinner isn't what he expected, he can just say "Nah, I went to accompany a friend", "A friend asked me to come along" or "My friend was going alone, so I just went along". Whatever. The point is, he don't want to be responsible for the decision that he made.

Well. No one can force another one. Even if I had said "OK" and invited him, he still can say "No". Nothing is stopping him.

I am not proving this is bad or wrong nor is it right or good. I'm simply pointing out this theory that I had in mind for a while now. And it excites me when it actually happened. LOL. I know I'm weird.

On the other hand, maybe I'm just being overexcited. Maybe he just cared whether or not I will get lonely. Heh!

Anyway, throughout the dinner, I also notice people who tries REALLY hard, that it makes me laugh! I know it's a social and people are being friendly but.. Hahaa. I don't know. Something is wrong with me. I know not of any reason why anyone should get offended by this analogy- if anyone ever read this, that is- because these are clearly all in my head.

Even cleaned my room.

Paradise Kiss

It's based on the manga Paradise Kiss by the all famous Ai Yazawa of NANA. I super love the clothes in the manga as, well, it's a manga centered around fashion designing. When I watched the anime, I am very stunned by the colours and style. BUT WHEN I WATCH THE MOVIE, IT'S A WHOLE NEW LEVEL~!

I think I was literally in heaven.

They follow rather closely to the plot, even getting a male character to play Isabella just like how it is! I talked about this.

I approve of ALL of the character EXCEPT MIWAKO. She is not supposed to be taller than Yukari! But anyway, the movie progresses really well, highlighted all the points and characters developed smoothly. Of course, we would all want to see Osamu Mukai in blue hair but I guess his appearance is just fine. Such a prince!

BUT! The most important part is the ENDING! IT IS SOOOOOOOO GOOD! I BET YOU ALL PARADISE KISS FANS PREFER THIS ENDING TO THE ONE IN MANGA.

WHY CAN'T THE MANGA HAVE THIS ENDING?? NAZE?? NAZE??????

In conclusion, I give this movie 9.5/10. If they find a more suitable actress for the character Miwako, this would have been the first movie to earn a 10/10 from me.

I still LOVE IT TO BITS! Even the songs are great!

Not to mention,

Osamu Mukai!

He, is the definition of my dream prince.

Punctuality vs Knowledge

I have noticed this trend ever since my first class here.

Punctuality is of utmost importance here, disregarding events or activities.

Of course, it is also one of my principles.

Here, classes start on time and END ON TIME.

Sharp on the clock. I often see the lecturers rushing to finish their presentation. Zannen desu, they could have tell us more and flows don't come just like that. It's such a pity to see the time has to be the factor to break their concentration and focus on delivering top-notched education to us. On one hand, they have to obey the time and on the other, feeding us with valuable information.

I never did mind lecturers stretching a little more just to explain things right. Heck, if it is really important, I don't mind sitting for another hour of lectures. Back in Malaysia, dragging classes is a norm.

Apparently it is not here and will never be.

One, because time is very respected here.

Two, because the students are SO RESTLESS. To the point that it is quite annoying. They started packing even before the lecturer finishes talking which, to put it bluntly, is just plain RUDE. One of our lecturers actually had to ask them to stop packing few times so that she can finish her lectures because the rustles and noise is disturbing and of course, making other students uncomfortable too. And makes diligent students such as myself unable to hear the lecturer properly.

Hahaa. Diligent student.

But that's besides the point. Apparently this is also a practice in the United States as shared by my baby across the Atlantic Ocean. Students started packing once the clock ticked to the right time and concentration flew out the window.

Since I am blogging about this today, you can expect that it happened today too. It is rather obvious that our dearest Belgian professor was trying to finish the slides but the restlessness of students finally made him stop after only two minutes past the time we're supposed to end. And point being there is really only few more slides to go.

*sigh*

Maybe its the practice in Malaysia that makes this scene not normal to me. Maybe what I experienced should NOT be the way. Maybe I'm just not used to it. Who knows, few more weeks down the road I might become one of the restless rustlers. Heh.

Therefore, my conclusion is I have no conclusion. I cannot say that it is bad neither can I say it is the right thing to do. Thus, we shall leave it at that.

Trick Or Treat!

As Edward is in town, the touring has taken place.

Again.

Today we crashed the National Museum of Wales. I haven't been there myself so its a good oppurtunity to do so. We first ventured into the area how the earth came about, dinosaur fossils, animal kingdom and whatnot. Then we reach contemporary arts where modern artists' works are on display.

I don't understand most of them.

THEN. We came to the older art pieces section. This is where all the old paintings from 1600s are hung. It is such a beautiful place and arts here are easier to behold and understand. Just as we're enjoying all those giant portraits, the fire alarm went off.

At first we weren't sure because there were two brief ones earlier. Then a staff came and asked us to evacuate. Surprised yet curious, we left accordingly through the designated fire exits. As we came about, we saw that its the real deal as the staffs were all evacuating. It only became more surreal as fire trucks, as efficiently as they are expected to be, came trolling down the street ahead of us towards the museum.

But I don't see any fire.

We left to town and had dinner. On our way back, we got 'trick or treat'-ed by a group of children. We gaped at them for a while and was thinking of how to tell them we do not have candies on us at the moment but when we peered into their buckets and saw coins, we found the alternative. I emptied my coins.

It's kids! How can you resist them?

Of course, the better alternative had to be mentioned later: we should have just trick them.

LOL.

On our way back, we walked pass the museum again. It's still there, unharmed. All the initial four fire engines are gone but for one. We think they're still inspecting.

Too Much Happiness?

You canNOT have too much of it.

Because right after it ends, the miserable feeling comes.

It just is. Like just now.

I was over at a friend's with more friends having homemade rendang, nasi lemak, fried chicken and roast chicken (a very chicken feast) and was having a great time. When I came home I first notice one of the buttons on my overcoat fell off.

Then. I realised I miss the Halloween screening.

OMG.

How can I miss it?? I've been looking forward to it soooo much! And it was last night! And I only realise it now. I'm going to slap myself now.

Oh gosh.

But this is not the first time sadness came swooshing after happiness. There were a couple of times where all of a sudden after a superb time with friends or whatnot, you go emo. For example, during festive seasons. You know how all your relatives come home and you do nothing but laze around with them at home? Then when it all ends and all go back, you feel sad and miss them. The feelings were only stronger coupled with the fact that your happiness level was at its peak. So the fall was undoubtedly greater, hence the huge impact.

I went emo for two months at one point in time.

Anyway. My point is I miss my anime screening. I can't believe it.

It's such a horrible thing to do.

I feel horrible.

You are allowed to slap me if you see me on the streets.

I sat as a judge with another course mate today for the second year mooting competition. Obviously I enjoy the moment where we enter and they stand up and address us. It's the Supreme Court! It's a big deal! Hahaa.

At first, I couldn't follow what the first counsel said at all. I was trying so hard to listen and understand but just couldn't. In the end I realise my course mate didn't too. Hahaa. The first counsel is just progressing so fast. The rest were fine. They were so professional that secretly I really admired them and the efforts. The respondents' bundle is so professionally made, just like the ones I saw in Chooi & Co. After everything ended, we scored each of them after everything and hand them in to the organiser.

There are going to be second rounds. If they need more people, I'm up! :D

The Art of Arrogant Stupidity

Hello.

It has been long since I write out of anger and disgust. Here it is again. I am not sure who will be reading this but I don't care. Even if the person I'm referring to read this, I will still show the cock face I would have shown you.

So I mentioned I joined this Cardiff Malaysian Society, MSSCF for short. Their logo is... I don't know what it is, they seem to be changing all the time. Their motto is that the society is our "HOME AWAY FROM HOME"

When I join, the committee is already up. From the FIRST day I join the community Facebook group, the committee members have been most helpful, answering questions and offering helps here and there. I was amazed.

At first.

When I actually come to Cardiff, reality isn't so beautiful. I have to admit I myself isn't a very sociable person. I don't go around saying "Hello" to random strangers. But it doesn't mean I can't. I tried. When I say I tried, I really tried.

I don't know whether it's because of the fact that we come from different universities or colleges but one thing I can tell is they choose their people. I'm not the only one whose not chosen by the so-called high authority within the society. I can tell there's a lot of us outcast too. Sure, it doesn't mean that they don't talk to us at all. They still do, albeit in an insincere way.

It's so stupid how many of the committee members say "Hi, how are you?" then looks away without expecting an answer. This goes to show how they're are only doing this out of obligation. I gaped at the President as he did this to me, TWICE. He probably doesn't realise or he just doesn't care. The fact that he is the President and how people try to befriend him massages his ego so much he couldn't be bothered to actually care about them in return.

The second week I was here, they held a kenduri. Feast, as we call it. I attended, thinking it would be a good oppurtunity to try again. I am not exactly picky about food. Even if it doesn't taste decent I'd still finish it. Placing us in a hall sitting and eating on the floor is also not a problem to me. What really tick me off is how they claim this and that but never did any of it.

How do you claim to be the HOME AWAY FROM HOME when you act with such hostility? Just because the society won the Best Society award doesn't make your society heavenly high and unreachable. Just so you know, it's very easy to tear you down.

The audition. They release the date on 16th October 2011, 2345. Almost midnight, so we make it the 17th alright? The audition is one week away. Less than, actually. The audition was set on the 22nd.Of course, some of us couldn't make it as plans were made. As we inquire into it, the first answers were summarised as "Aww, too bad. You'll just have to miss it. If you don't prioritise the audition then so be it." But after a few MORE pressing, they reluctantly set up another audition.

Speaking of audition, I shall announce I wasn't chosen. Many of you will think I'm writing this because I was bitter about not being chosen. Truth is I've expected not being chosen. I would actually be surprised and criticise their lack of taste for choosing me because I sing badly. But no, this is not why I'm writing this.

THIS, is why I'm writing:

You can try opening the form, but I would think that the SHARP committee members has ammended it.

I was already offended by the first comment. I don't know how he comes to assume I would go there as a leech. Even if he does, really? Without further investigations and subtly accusing me as such?

Next, I hate people who doesn't even have a backup for whatever they say. He didn't even bother checking the form again before telling me off. Then when I pointed out the mistake, that's how he replied me in the last comment.

My goodness.

I have so much pity for him.

By the way, that's the President.

He may be one year older than me, or probably the same age. But that doesn't make him any more authoritative than anyone else. Just because he stayed there one year ahead doesn't give him the right to decide for other people.

But hey, if he IS one year older than me but the fact that we're on the same level now.. Hahaa. I love this thought :P

I am not saying everyone in the committee is like that. I met really nice ones but they're so hard to find. The others just give you a look, not so much even a smile in the eyes and look away. Generally people who are handpicked by them are people who behaves JUST like them. Which is why I don't mix with any of them.

Sure.. HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

Typing the motto now really makes me laugh out loud. Just how ridiculous it is!

Don't ask me to run for presidency because I don't have time to deal with politics with people like them.

I will still go to the Nottingham Games because it's one of the biggest events around.

I will also find more ways to redeem my worth of £5 for joining the society before I give up on it totally.

Ahh. I've never felt so much anger in a while now.

Seminar is good!

It's the first, every first tends to feel fresh and nice.

We had two lecturers and one go. They're awesome. Especially Professor Doe. He has a tall figure and a deep resounding voice which makes listening to him talk so wonderful.

Swift Audition

And so I went for the audition.

LOL. It's like a second one, specially made for the people who couldn't make it the first time.

It was kind of a swift decision. A friend asked if I wanna come along with her as she wanted to audition as well. And since I was going to be at the Student Union, where the audition was going to be held, for the Anime Society meeting anyway, I agreed to it.

It was fast. They just call you, you go in, sing and come out.

I have to say it wasn't one of my best shots. I am not a good singer but I know I can do better than what I did.

Did I mention my voice hasn't completely return to Mommy?

That's why.

Recently I've been singing and humming So This Is Love from Cinderella everywhere, just like Cinderella herself. I don't know why. Hahaa.

I'm having my first Law and Religion class tomorrow.

I'm excited and nervous at the same time because it's a seminar rather than a lecture. I've checked the list and there's only twenty four of us in the entire module and I'm the only Chinese. Out the names that I see lah. They must think it's odd for me to take the subject. Heh.

I missed those days.

Those days where I used to dance and sing, performing on stage.

Back in primary school, I was one of the more prominent performers, participating in dance and musicals. I even picked up traditional instruments, knowing how to play the Chinese drums and kompang. I know dances from Malay to Indian to Indonesian. I know dondang sayang, ronggeng and dikir barat.

But those were the days. Hahaa.

The Cardiff Malaysian Society has organised a stage performances called this Festival of Diversity. No doubt, this piques my interest very much. They're holding an audition this Saturday and I'm hoping I can attend.

My throat hasn't been behaving as it should be recently and I really hope that it will heal really soon. HsuAnn is coming over to Cardiff this weekend and I again hope she is OK with me attending the audition.

Hello, Year III

Year III is expected to be different.

First, it's my final year. Second, it's British education. How the system works here is that the lecturers only outline things you need to go and do further reading on. But this you already know. So, in conclusion, not only I have to work twice and hard to nail down my degree but four times as much. Because before all of that, I will need to settle down and adapt first.

But I've settled in well, so all that's left is focus and hardwork.

How hard can it be?? XP

Released 1987, this accompanied me when I was a kid. I have always love it. Few days ago, my insecurities hit me again and I went to search for this movie to watch. And so I found and did! The songs are so much nicer than the new version of the movie. I never bother with the new movies because I do not expect them to be as good as this. In other words, I never did watch the new movies. I stumbled on the second one though and actually watched it because Zachary Levi was in it.

Last two nights, as I re-watch this again after years, I realised how awesome this movie is!

I remember I used to like Alvin. But now I turned to Simon!

Classes

I've done a week of first classes.

Except for Law of Religion which will not start till two weeks later.

So far I find all my classes comprehensible. It's not as bad as I had imagined, gathering from the experiences of other people. The first thing they tell you is: "You won't understand a thing the lecturer says"

I beg to differ though. I find it OK.

Except for Trust.

It's not that I don't understand him, I do but I find his speech pattern so annoying that sometimes it's tiring to try to gauge what is he trying to say. He likes to suddenly diverge from one topic to the other, then branch out to another, get all excited then start muttering to himself THEN go back to the original one and start off somewhere else. He is already planting the dislike-trust seed in me. I'm already dreading Trust class.

But one thing that's exceptional is that we have our afternoon Trust classes in the Museum. Not kidding.

National Museum

Apparently the class is SO huge that the University's largest lecture theater could not hold everyone. It is intriguing and they have red velvet chairs (it has lost it's smoothness though) but they don't have a table to write notes on.

Intellectual Property is OK, the lecturer has been most clear. He has a lot to tell but obviously 50 minutes is not enough. I am looking forward to the subject, at least.

EU Law. If I tell you I like this subject, you might stop befriending me. We will be having three lecturers for this but so far only met one. She started with the history of EU Law and being a history junkie, I jumped right into the mood. Love her stuff. Well, maybe I'm saying that I like it because we're still quite on the historic part. Who knows what will come later? EU Law might surpass Trust and become the most hated subject I'd ever have. Hahaa.

Books here are expensive! Man! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO reluctant to buy. But I shall hold on with the thought that I can resell them just so to comfort myself to buy. *breathe*

I went clubbing too. My first time ever.

I don't think they need a name. Haha. The first pot I bought is the yellow Calandiva, also known as the Kalanchoe (what names =.=)

Today, after my Trusts class, I decided to drop by the Student Union for the one day only house plant sale. Then I saw it! The Venus flytrap!

Shi Ian used to have one. It's now probably at his Aunt's place. Hahaa!

I'm going to catch some insects and experiment with it soon! Maybe over this weekend!

It's proven by See Tho Wai Siong that if you play music to them and interact with them, they are likely to be healthier and happier. She did the experiment herself by playing AC/DC's songs to her potted plant at one point in time as part of the subject's assignment. HAH!

New addition to the family!!

Introducing: Lucas!

Overview: He's a 10 month old Golden Retriever, that is, the ones you saw in the Pedigree advertisements on TV. His original name is Bobby. EWW! What kind of name is that???

Origins: His mother.

How he came about: Mom's friend who was frustrated with him biting and chewing on things was on the verge of dumping him on the street. When my Mom found out, she quickly headed over and adopted him.

Now my Mom is super excited about his new son. So is Dad. Dad loves GRs. And Dad insists on keeping his former name. No way!

This is his new home and he will have a new name!

I am calling him Lucas. He can be MY Lucas and Dad's Bobby, whatever.

Argh! It has to be Lucas! IT HAS TO BE!!

On the side note, Mom and Dad are always frustrated about the dogs, how we wouldn't handle them (but we did!). And now a new boy is home because of them, you just know that even though they complained about it over and over again, they love the pups just the same. Hah! <3

Ooh~! I just got news this morning that he chewed on my slipper.

MY SLIPPER!

Even though I'm not there anymore. Are my belongings that popular? I have countless clothes, bras and slippers that were eaten by CeeCee and Lucky. I don't need Lucas doing this.

Anyway, about his chewing about. I don't get why Mom's friend can't see he's still going through the puppy stage; he's still squatting to pee! Of course his gums are itchy! So buy him things to chew on. And this is where training comes in *coughawesometrainerslikemecough* where you substitute what he's not supposed to be chewing to something he can chew. Plus, GRs are clever breeds. I bet it'll be easier training him than how I trained Lucky.

Not saying Lucky is stupid but.. sometimes she just is, you know!

But one thing about her is that she's stubborn as hell! Which makes training her more difficult than CeeCee.

And toilet training of course.

But training male dogs is a new challenge for me. They like marking territories everywhere so I have yet to work out on a training syllabus for him.

Yes, I know I'm far away from home but my family members are relying on me to help train the new handsome boy.

As I put on my new set of clothes this evening after taking a shower, I noticed one strand of Lucky's fur sticking to the shirt. I know I'm not supposed to be glad about this but I am!

Gosh, I miss her so much now. She's super annoying but so adorable at the same time. Aish!

Now that we have Lucas, I just wanna fly back home to see how the two are doing.

I'm excited! And I am very well allowed to.

Is this so important?

I've been to talks and fairs for the past week and all I get is them telling me "This will look good on your CV"

Is trying to boost your CV all one has to do during school life? I thought it's about enjoying. For one matter, I know I want to enjoy it rather than participating things that may look outstanding on my CV but cuts down my time on studies.

The truth is: I enjoy studying.

Period.

It's somehow hypocritical to one point where all you're trying to do is to impress your future employer with all the activities you've done. Out of that many applicants, I doubt that the employer would go as far as verifying every single detail you wrote on your CV. Unless he's highly interested.

What? Reference letters you say?

Be realistic. There's only this one template where your referees will only change the name to and print it out for you.

I think in the end, grades talk.

If you don't have the grades, I don't see why they should hire you. If you don't grasp your knowledge well, how are you going to apply them? It would only work if you know your stuff.

However, if the activity is something that you're genuinely interested in, then I see the point in doing it. And I'm telling you, even the employer can feel the difference between someone who puts his heart into doing something and someone who's only doing it for the sake of doing it.

Intonation, facial expression, hand and leg movements, pupil dilation.

I can tell them apart, what more of an employer?

So that's it! Ask yourself, is this what you want to do?

Or is it something to flourish your CV with?

At least I know what I want.

Bill of Rights

There's multiple choice and writing.

The writing part includes comprehension where you read and summarise the points in addition to your own opinions. It's with regards to the implementation of the Bill of Rights in the UK. But now we have the HRA 1998, I cannot quite relate to the question.

Anyway, after I got myself good lunch, Connie and I went to find so-called CHINATOWN.

The last I check there is NO Chinatown in Cardiff. After hearing a few friends saying there is, we went exploring.

Sure, we found a street with a few Chinese shops. It's more like an Asian street. There isn't much choice though, and what you usually buy at a super cheap price turns out to be deadly over here and vice versa. This applies to everything; clothing, food.

GOSH! FISH AND SEAFOOD ARE SO EXPENSIVE HERE!

Except for common fish such as cod and salmon. COMMON. And they're actually cheaper than the ones I usually eat back home.

Today is the first meeting of the Anime Society. Met some people but everyone just talks. It's supposed to be some reading, drawing session but no one conducts anything. They just talk. And they talk a lot =P

I only have half an hour lectures.

I think I only have lectures on Thursdays and Friday.

Lectures officially began next week, which would comprise of introductory classes I guess. I have also been assigned a personal tutor.

There's this guidebook that tells us literally, EVERYTHING you need to know, from submitting coursework online, consequences of plagiarism and how to approach your personal tutor. Haa. Bedtime reading.

There are also reading lists (zzz), other motivational messages and activities coming up.

As mentioned, they take the coursework seriously. Of course, plagiarism is totally out of the question. But you know what I like most? THE PENALTY FOR EXCESS WORDS!

1-1000 > 5% reduction
1001-2000 > 10% reduction
2001-3000 > 15% reduction

Translation: they won't read your assignment at all.

I wonder how many will die if BAC adopt such policy. HEEE.

International students whose first language is NOT English have to take a test held tomorrow. At first glance, I don't have to take the test. However, they have to add: students from overseas countries where English is spoken as the first language such as US, Australia, Canada etc are not required to attend the test.

What kind of discrimination is this????

Just because I'm multi lingual it does not mean I cannot speak proper English!!

Of course, my English will never be as perfect as those who actually speak English the whole of their lives and will do for the rest of it. I do have flaws. Plus, I never mind extra English classes because my favourite subject has been and always will be English. Corny much? That's the truth.

I am also required to take this IT Training class which I haven't quite figured out yet. I'll ask again tomorrow.

My residence hall is having a dinner party for all residences later. This means I don't have to cook for dinner. Hah! Not that I'm extra happy about it because I like grocery shopping and cooking. And I am an OK cook.

I officially signed on as a member of the Anime Society and the Malaysian Society. Actually I don't know why I joined the latter one. Somehow when I walk by the booth it struck me as an obligation that I should sign up. Oh well. I was also thinking of writing for the Uni's paper. I am still not so sure about it because I'm more of the creative writing type rather than the journalist type. Siong is the journalist type and I just love reading her stuffs.

The things I picked up:

I think I need some living things in my room. Pets are generally not allowed in dormitories, so I guess I'll have to fall back to flora. Will look for a pot of bright flowers to lit the room up. And for oxygen because I have to keep the window closed most of the time.

I find it really smart and smooth! I love Mila's character, Jamie and her acting is really stunning to me.

I guess in the end the game 'friends with benefits' just won't work as it sounds =)

Similar movie like No String Attached was on my list, maybe it's a little different. I shall check it out soon!

So I left for Cardiff.

The long awaited A380!!

The flight was NOT fun at all! The first six hours was still bearable but the latter seven hours is just nonsense. Dubai was great, I mean the airport because I can't leave that place. But even within the air conditioned place you can tell that the place is really warm. I tried to look around for Burj Khalifa but failed as well.

The next seven hours is the zombie moment. I forced myself to sleep so that I have energy to go through the day in London and Cardiff. I watched Ratatouille, Up and Mulan.

I landed in London, no one asked me for my X-Ray, which make check out fast and clean.

Heathrow is .. normal. Cardiff University (CU) got us a bus and we all travel to Cardiff which is almost three hours away from London. It's almost the same time from KL to Ipoh. The difference is that instead of hills and forests, we get plains, horses, sheep and cows.

I went a little exploring on the third day after settling my student ID and bank.

People on the west are so used to walking. Walking is really the main way of getting about. The first few times where I had to buy things, I wanna literally dump all of those goods and walk. They're so heavy!!

Anyway, day three is meant for walking with no shopping. So I brought the camera out!

Cardiff Market. I love this place after the first favourite.

Re-known Wales Millenium Centre. The shot that is only seen in brochures.

This is my number one favourite place; Cardiff Bay!! Too bad it has to be so far away from my hostel. I walked over 10km that day. I felt awesome.

And I'm still feeling awesome! Hahahaha!

A Turning Point

It's Johnny English: Reborn with the girls on Thursday.

No pictures because.. We were never really the camera and photo type. Heh.

Participants include ME! Akira, Eri and Lala. Managed to drag the lazy ass of Lala out. Hahaa.

We talked about so many things e.g; can you accept your boyfriend being younger than you? (I thought we discussed this?), keep walking around and teach Lala all about SUSHI.

Gosh, I didn't know she don't eat raw stuff. Anyway, she did eat something. Went to Popular bookstore twice.

We came across a junior too. I couldn't recognize her at first though I find her familiar looking. A moment later they greeted her, which reminded me of her identity. The first thing that came out from the girl's lips was: "You four are still together?"

After we bid her goodbye, we corrected her behind her back: it's the six of us, though we're far apart.

Man, are we proud things or what.

Today I went shopping and I realized I bought a lot of purple coloured items. I keep feeling that I need something that resembles Kao-chan. Purple it is! I've even got a cute purple umbrella!

It's for ya, woman! Hah!

Nowadays I can't sleep late and I will wake up before 1000. I don't know why.

This morning, as I lay in Shan Jie Jie's bed, I just don't want to wake up. I wanna stay with her forever.

No Money To Buy Cars

Let me illustrate the motion.

Last Sunday, Mom and I brought Handsome to Jusco to do some shopping.

So we arrived at Popular where I picked up all my stationery while Mom accompany Handsome at the kid's section.

When we're paying, Handsome handed me a Cars 2 sticker book and Mom said to buy that for him. So we bought the book for him -in addition to this, there's a really nice and fine lady that offered us the Popular member card for discounts! I'll always bless her!

While waiting for my brother and his brother exploring the bookstore, him and my Mom sit on a bench together. I watch as Handsome look at his new Cars 2 book. Then suddenly he tell me he wants the one with the crayon. My Mom then explained that Handsome's initial choice is another Cars 2 book with a pack of crayons. Since he has a pack of crayons at home, Mom persuaded him to turn for the sticker book. However, it seems that he changed his mind.

So I explained to him that since he said OK to the sticker book, only then we buy it. I also used the long receipt to show as if we spent too much money and now has none. Mom even showed him that she has only a few Ringgit left.

Obviously he didn't let it go. In the end my Mom gave him an ultimatum. He went emo and pretend to be sleepy. He even walked with his eyes closed (as if -I tested him by purposely let him bang the wall as I drag him along but he managed to evade it- HUH!).

As soon as we reached home, I dumped him on his bed and he pretend to continue to sleep.
