Every year, Cheng Beng is in Ipoh and towards my paternal grandmother.
This year, it's different. This year, it's the first time for the many of us of the third generation to be at my maternal great-grandparents and great-great-grandfather.
It's that far XD
We went to 富宝山庄 on Saturday morning. It was not as sunny as it was previous times so it's good!
Reflecting, actually I haven't had much memories with my paternal grandmother. Hmm.
But from what I remember, she really love all of us and I love her a lot too =D
Right after that, Aunt Kumg came to pick us all up! Aunt Lin has reached Ipoh from Singapore. I can feel that this first time of mine is going to be BIG.
Up north to Kuala Kangsar we go!
Town.

It's a small town with the most homey feeling ever. I had SO MUCH memories there. From stealing coconuts to chasing chickens.
I had a LARGE chunk of childhood there.
Here, everyone knows everyone. No one cares about status quo.
We stayed over my grandfather's brother's place which can accommodate a lot of people. As soon as we reached, we started eating.
Aiyo. The eating NEVER stops!
First we had laksa. The BEST. If you don't know, I only eat laksa from Kuala Kangsar.
Then it's bread with kaya. The bread is made by the famous Double Lion Hotel, which glamorous period dates back decades ago in that small town. It still stands and is a very important landmark in town.
Then it's Japanese chocolates Aunt Lin bought at the airport on the way here. Awesomeness!! It literally MELTS in your mouth!!
Then it's DURIAN! Kyaaa!! The BEST and only the BEST! I had some back in Ipoh and now another round! While we chat and eat, we never realise how much we actually ate!
After some karaoke-ing with the relatives and waiting of more relatives to come, it's DINNER! Woots! Home cooked dishes beats everything. Cousins whom I haven't met for a period longer than others turned up and they barely remember me! Hahaa.
But we have re-established our bonds by playing BINGO! XD
Then as ShanJieJie and I went behind the house (supposedly discreetly) to get more durians, we're spotted by Aunt WeiLee who is supposed to be chatting with the rest of the adults at the porch and came to get durians. So we moved all the durians to where everyone is and had durian feast!!
"Open here, open here"
Crowds were cheering: "Wow! Dentist buka durian!!"

Look. At. Those. Flesh.

We finished about ten durians. At once.
Haha.
The next day is the event.
I've never been to the place and is only told it's at Lenggong. So most of us woke up by 0630 and left the house at sharp 0700, just as how my granduncle planned.
The cemetry. Old school.

That's the tombstone. My hair look so stylo XP

Handsome in pyjamas is CUTE!!

Handsome in pyjamas EATING WATERMELON is WAY CUTER!!

This is Yee Suan. She looks A LOT like my sister when she was young!

She kind of dislike how we keep comparing them though =P

Hahaa! Watermelon's juicy yo!

They look like they're fighting for food. LOL.

Firecrackers ready. Kids are ready too.

Cheese!

After that, we got back to Ipoh and purchased the next train to KL.
Before we board the train, I managed to get a taste of the most famous Ipoh hor fun stall in the old town. Muahahahaha!!
Even as I am on the ride (KTM has new trains =D) I started feeling really sad and emo-ish.
I hate to have so much fun at one point only to end it so quickly. Gosh, I miss them. I miss the places. I think me being emo these few days is the aftermath of that. And it does not help when a second earthquake hits Japan again.
Pictures of the Ipoh round will come soon, when my cousins decides to upload them! Hahaa.
Toodles!
