Up

I decided to do a review on this. Out of whim.

The story start with a young Carl's friendship with his future wife Ellie. They both share a love for adventure and dreamed of visiting a place called Paradise Falls in South America. As life goes, Paradise Falls didn't seem to be a priority anymore, until the couple found out that they were unable to have children. They began saving to go to Paradise Falls but incidents keep coming in the way which requires money. Eventually they grow old and Paradise Falls no longer matter. Ellie falls sick and passed away, leaving old Carl a grumpy old man who refused to give up his house even though the land surrounding the house is undergoing construction for high rise buildings.

Still refusing to give up the house and leave for old folks home, he attached his house to MANY helium balloons and headed for Paradise Falls. Russell, a young boy came on the day to assist the elderly in order to collect his badges (somewhat like a scout) and accidentally board the flying house. The adventure then begins!

Throughout, Russell is seen to have matured and understand the meaning of protection while Carl learns to let go of his memories of Ellie and move on. It's a very touching story with a happy ending.

Some of my favourite quotes:

"Good afternoon, my name is Russell."
"I know, I know!!"
"Get off his, woof!"
